As mobile traffic continues to increase, the evolution of LTE and the move towards 5G is being supported by a re-evaluation of the traditional cell architecture. By using virtualization methods and small cells, static cell sites can be replaced with more agile and dynamic “virtual cells” that enable an operator to better configure and optimise their radio access networks.
