Microimpuls deploys Irdeto Trusted Home to protect connected households

28 January, 2020 - MOSCOW, RUSSIA: Irdeto, the recognized leader in digital platform and cybersecurity, today announced that its Trusted Home solution will be deployed by Microimpuls, an established Russian IPTV and OTT technology provider, which will enable Russian operators to securely manage their subscribers’ connected devices over home Wi-Fi networks.

Many smart home devices do not receive regular software updates or have antivirus software installed, and as the use of connected devices in the home grows, monitoring network usage to detect and block threats beyond the router is crucial. Trusted Home gives operators an opportunity to protect and optimize their consumers’ home networks to ensure a great smart home experience.

Launched at IBC 2019, Irdeto Trusted Home is an AI-driven security and Wi-Fi management solution. It gives broadband subscribers control over their home network by showing exactly which devices have connected – and the bandwidth they use – and secures the smart home experience through a mobile application, which supports both Android and iOS devices.

This announcement marks the second, country-wide deployment of Irdeto solutions by Microimpuls, having previously launched Irdeto Cloud CA for cable operators; Microimpuls will also shortly launch Irdeto Control (multi-DRM) to host server capacities for interactive services for cable operators.

A local cloud will be launched by Microimpuls at its datacenter in Moscow to provide Trusted Home for Russian ISPs, alongside Irdeto Control, for multi-DRM services for OTT operators. This will enable increased stability, faster access to services and also ensure Microimpuls complies with the current legislation of the Russian Federation, which demands locally deployed cloud services meet strict requirements for keeping personal data onsite.

“Failing to properly secure smart devices is the digital equivalent of locking the front door but leaving all the windows open” said Shane McCarthy, Chief Operating Officer, Video Entertainment at Irdeto. “We’re increasingly conscious of our personal data, and broadband providers need the tools to address their customers’ concerns about data privacy and security while offering value added services.”

“By adding Trusted Home to its existing security tools, Microimpuls can provide seamless smart home security to ISPs, creating business efficiencies that can generate additional revenue in the process.”

“Irdeto has a global reputation for digital and cybersecurity, so working with an industry-leader like them solidifies the reliability of our products in the minds of our customers” added Konstantin Shpinev, Co-founder & CTO of Microimpuls. “We constantly aim to improve our existing products and develop our business into new markets to better serve our customers, and we see Irdeto as a key strategic partner in doing that.”
