In a powerful demonstration of the value that live broadcasting services can bring to an enterprise environment, PCCW Global, the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong’s premier telecommunications service provider, earlier this year cooperated with Caton Technology (Asia) Limited, a leading provider of advanced IP video transmission and managed file transfer solutions, to deliver a fully managed live IP transmission of all three days of the 2018 PCCW Global Business Launch to a number of countries in the Asia Pacific region. In addition, the event, which was held in Hong Kong, was made available on a delayed broadcast basis to all other PCCW Global offices around the world and was also viewable via Video on Demand (VoD) on mobile devices for those staff who were traveling at the time or located away from the major offices.

At the event, locally encoded video utilized Caton Engine’s Reliable Real-Time Transport Protocol (R2TP*) over PCCW Global's TV Network (GTVN) and Content Delivery Network (CDN) to deliver broadcast quality transmissions to offices and individuals overseas. This easy to use and highly cost-effective solution enabled far greater employee engagement than had ever been possible before. The cost of bringing all staff together in Hong Kong for the event had previously meant that only a subset of PCCW Global’s worldwide staff complement could actually attend and participate, whereas now everyone was able to be an active participant and be fully informed regarding the company’s plans and future direction.

The solution successfully demonstrated the viability of broadcasting business activities to global offices, dramatically increasing employee inclusion and involvement in company events while simultaneously reducing travel costs. It also provides best-in-class, fully managed and highly flexible video transmission with reliability rivalling dedicated satellite or leased line solutions, at a fraction of the cost.

The solution made use of PCCW Global’s advanced global video network, further demonstrating the power of the two companies working together to provide game-changing enterprise broadcasting services which can conveniently link delegates to business events irrespective of where they are in the world.

Since PCCW Global and Caton Technology began collaborating in May 2017, the two companies have successfully delivered new, innovative, cost-effective and reliable services to broadcasting, content and enterprise clients around the world.
