Manish Singh, Global Head for Network Cloud Solutions, Tech Mahindra and Tareq Amin, CTO Rakuten Mobile Network

Japan’s Rakuten has adopted an innovative approach to building its new cellular 5G-ready network, opting for a cloud native approach. It has selected vendors that will deliver a fully virtualised radio access network. Whilst the broader industry continues to discuss and debate the practicalities of vRAN, Rakuten is actually installing and testing a commercial solution. This is supported by a new private cloud and next generation operations centre, integrated by Tech Mahindra and underlining the importance of collaboration within an open and dynamic ecosystem.

Filmed at Mobile World Congress 2019, Barcelona, Spain
