New enhanced BT TV app allows customers to download and watch their favourite BT TV content on the go

BT today announced a series of great new free features for BT TV app customers, including the ability to download and access content on the go, as well as ‘BT TV App Extra’ - offering additional benefits such as access to a range of TV platforms including Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV and Google Chromecast.

This is another example of BT offering customers unrivalled choice and flexibility on how and where they watch their favourite content with innovative and easy to use features.

Purchase, download and watch on the go – all through the new app

BT TV app customers can now purchase programmes directly through their set top box or BT Player and then use the app to access all their BT TV purchases, rentals and subscriptions into one place. Customers will be able to download and play films and box sets purchased or rented from the BT TV Store on any device through the BT TV app when out and about as well as at home.

BT TV App Extra

BT has also introduced BT TV App Extra, for those wantingto take their viewing experience to the next level across big screens, mobiles and tablets. BT TV App Extra allows customers to now play their favourite content on up to four registered devices around the home through Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV and Google Chromecast with Amazon Fire TV also coming soon.

Customers with BT TV App Extra will be able to access all their purchased and rented content like the enhanced BT TV app, but they’ll also be able to download and play their favourite subscription, on demand, and catch-up content like AMC and BT Sport, or great entertainment such as The Terror and Fear the Walking Dead wherever they are.

Pete Oliver, Managing Director of BT Marketing and Sales said: “We’re giving customers unrivalled choice and flexibility in how they experience and watch their favourite content. Our new TV app brings BT’s fantastic entertainment and sport to multiple screens enabling customers to watch in more places than ever before”.

Existing users of the BT TV app will receive the new feature via an app update on their device. BT TV App Extra is available for an optional £5 extra on a monthly rolling contract.

For more information on App Extra, including how to sign-up, customers should visit: www.productsandservices.bt.com/tv/appextra.
