KONE, global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, commissioned T-Systems and their hardware and technology partner Huawei to support the connection of more than a million elevators, escalators and building doors to cloud-based services over the next few years.

Facilitating Maintenance with the IoT

Huawei’s high performance devices can measure critical parameters and gather mechanical and engineering data. By bringing data into the cloud and applying sophisticated analytics, service technicians will be better prepared when they arrive on site, solving callouts more quickly. At the same time, completely new applications and solutions can be developed. This will help systems become predictive, enabling remote diagnostics, and better services for KONE customers in some of the world's busiest cities and buildings.

As a long-standing IT service partner for KONE, Deutsche Telekom affiliate T-Systems has been involved in the development of 24/7 Connected Services with its integration expertise.

On the road to a digital ecosystem

"Partnering is one of the most important prerequisites for innovation today. In terms of the Internet of Things, no company can go at it alone and scale up with a global footprint,” says Tomio Pihkala, Chief Technology Officer, KONE. “Through our cooperation with T-Systems and Huawei, we will be able to move more quickly and bring more value to our customers. And by working with a strong partner ecosystem we will be able to continue to lead innovation in our industry.”

The cooperation supports the roll-out of KONE’s 24/7 Connected Services, which was launched in February this year, bringing real-time data and more insights for customers and service technicians.
