He also visited Huawei's Executive Briefing Center in Beijing, got a glimpse of Huawei’s latest technology, and met the Singaporean college students participating in Seeds for the Future, Huawei’s flagship CSR program aimed at teaching young people about ICT, praising its commitment to fostering young ICT talent.

Madam Sun said, “Countries have recognized that their level of connectivity has become a core competitive factor in the 21st century. Singapore’s Smart Nation plan will put the country at the very forefront of a new transformation. Huawei can deliver additional value through a holistic partnership to help enable a forward looking ICT technology environment in Singapore. Seeds for the Future program is at the core of Huawei's commitment to nurturing local ICT talent, strengthening the quality of ICT education and enabling a nation’s talent pool for the future. The program aligns with the Singaporean government's ambition to create a vibrant ICT ecosystem that will drive forward its Smart Nation vision. We are inspired by President Tan's praise for our efforts in this area."

In the coming weeks, 40 Singaporean university students will work with Huawei experts to enhance their ICT skills and learn about Huawei’s global business operations at the company's Shenzhen headquarters. In the future, Huawei also plans to provide ICT education certification and training to teachers in Singapore.

During his visit, President Tan was introduced to recent innovations in broadband technology including LTE-M, heterogeneous networks, and green data centers.

Huawei is committed to contributing to Singapore's business and ICT industry ecosystems and is working closely with the government to find commercially viable new technologies that promote Singapore's Smart Nation initiative and sustainable development. Madam Sun Yafang is a member of the annual Research Innovation and Enterprise Council chaired by Singapore Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, where she contributed industry insights on the ICT sector.

Huawei will also participate in a series of events organized by the Singaporean Embassy in China to commemorate the 25th anniversary.
