China Unicom and Jasper Introduce End-to-End Connected Car Telematics Services Provider

Via Jasper Press Releases

Dec 17, 2015

BEIJING, CHINA and SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA, December 17, 2015 – China Unicom, one of the world’s largest mobile network operators, and Jasper, a global Internet of Things (IoT) platform leader, today announced the launch of China Unicom Smart Connection (CUSC), an end-to-end service and operations provider for the connected car market. CUSC enables auto manufacturers to quickly and cost-effectively enter the Chinese connected car market via a single service provider, and is built upon the China Unicom Control Center IoT platform from Jasper.

CUSC is available today, and the combination of China Unicom’s high-performance mobile network and Jasper’s IoT service platform form the basis of a new Telematics Service Provider (TSP) which enables rapid time-to-market for auto manufacturers through a flexible, turnkey solution.

The benefits of CUSC for auto manufactures include:

  • A Single, Unified Service Provider –CUSC serves as a single point of contact for the technology platforms and operations needed to enable connected car services throughout all of China.
  • Dedicated Connected Car Focus – CUSC is focused solely on the connected car market, delivering a custom suite of technology, services and operations that power the entire connected car lifecycle.
  • Global Scalability – Through China Unicom’s partnership with Jasper, whose Control Center IoT platform is deeply integrated with 27 mobile operator groups representing 100+ mobile networks worldwide, Chinese auto manufacturers can scale their connected car services across the globe easily. Similarly, manufacturers outside of China can easily expand connected car services into China using the same Jasper Control Center integration used for other markets.

“With CUSC, we have built what will become the default connected car service and operations provider for auto manufacturers in China,” said Xin Keduo, CEO of CUSC. “The Jasper Control Center platform plays a critical role in CUSC’s ability to deliver connected car services throughout China, while also enabling our auto manufacturer customers to scale their services via Jasper’s mobile operator partners globally.”

“China Unicom continues to innovate and lead the IoT market in China, and the launch of CUSC is another example of their commitment to empowering critical industries,” said Ken Laversin, SVP of Global Sales at Jasper. “Our experience with 15 of the world’s leading auto OEMs utilizing Jasper’s platform in the connected car market, complements China Unicom’s deep history and expertise in this industry. Together, CUSC will be the premier service offering for both connected car manufacturers within China and those looking to enter the China market.”
