Caroline Chan

Vice President, Data Platforms Group, General Manager, Network Business Incubator Division, Network Platforms Group, Intel Corporation

Caroline Y. Chan is vice president in the Data Center Group and general manager of the group’s 5G infrastructure division at Intel Corporation. She has overall responsibility for Intel’s global network infrastructure strategy and solution development related to 5th-generation wireless technology. Chan and her team identify and develop use cases that incorporate the Internet of Things, innovation in wireless technologies and deployment models, such as mobile edge computing and alternative spectrums that will enable new service providers and enterprise networks.

Since joining Intel in 2009, Chan has worked closely with telecommunications vendors, operators and application developers to advance strategy and marketing in virtual RAN, mini Cloud-RAN and mobile edge computing technologies. Before leading the 5G infrastructure division, she spent six years as director of wireless technology and strategy. In that position, Chan oversaw server CPU extension into Intel’s wireless infrastructure business, a role that encompassed investment strategy, CPU adoption and modification, marketing, and business development. Earlier in her Intel career, she led strategy and business development for the WiMAX program office.

Before joining Intel, Chan had a 15-year career at Nortel Networks Corp., culminating in her role as director of 4G wireless product management.

Chan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, respectively. She serves on the board of the Telecom Infrastructure Project and the xRAN organization. Her contributions in the area of virtualized wireless radio access networks earned Chan an Intel Achievement Award in 2016.

Brian McCarson

Vice President and Senior Principal Engineer, Director Industrial Systems Engineering and Architecture, Internet of Things Group, Intel Corporation

Brian McCarson leads the Industrial Solutions Division Systems Engineering and Architecture team within the Internet of Things Group. He has a MS in materials science and electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and is adjunct faculty at Arizona State University teaching materials science and manufacturing. Brian specializes in system architectures and systems engineering for IoT, industrial automation and control systems, data visualization, innovative data analytics, multivariate problem solving and artificial intelligence technologies.

Robert Pike

General Manager, Smart Edge Division, Network Platforms Group, Intel Corporation

Robert (Bob) Pike is General Manager of the Smart Edge Division, in the Network & Edge Platforms Division, leading the team responsible for driving the intelligent edge platform that will fuel a joint roadmap aligning with Intel’s OpenNESS project and Smart Edge’s commercial offering. Smart Edge is built to run on Intel technologies such as high-performing Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors today and, going forward, Optane™ memory, Intel FPGAs and other accelerators. Smart Edge’s software is also highly complementary Intel’s OpenVINO and Open Visual Cloud.

Bob joined Intel in October 2019 as part of the acquisition of the Smart Edge™ intelligent-edge platform business from Pivot Technology Solutions, Inc. Previously, as one of the original developers of the Smart Edge™ platform, he was the Chief Technology Officer. Earlier in his career, Mr. Pike served as: CTO for Network & Mobile Broadband solutions at ACS (US), a Pivot subsidiary specializing in enterprise infrastructure; President and COO of MDSI, a provider of RAN and network integration services; and, at AT&T where he won high-performance recognition in bringing digital data services to Enterprise clients.

Bob is a graduate of Auburn University. He is a strong advocate for youth, and serves as a teacher/mentor for church youth, targeting working with young men just going into or coming out of college to assist in finding their passion. He is also involved in a Bereaved Parent Support – Specifically supporting Fathers who have lost children.
