Luton, United Kingdom - December 12, 2018 – Anritsu Corporation is proud to be part of the small and dedicated team developing and releasing standards for the switch to 5G networks. Following its first April 2016 meeting, the IEEE 1914™ working group established, developed, and published the IEEE 1914.3 standard in October 2018. As a voting member of this team, Anritsu continues work on other areas within the working group.

IEEE 1914.3 defines the encapsulation and mapping of radio protocols for transport over Ethernet frames using Radio over Ethernet (RoE), forming a key part of 5G fronthaul networks. It supports mapping, digitized radio data, CPRI™, I/Q data and control channel frames across a routed Ethernet network. Using Ethernet as the transport layer with IEEE 1914.3 frames improves fronthaul networks with higher link capacity and high transfer efficiency while maintaining required network latency guarantees.

Anritsu representatives are part of a small group of individuals affiliated with market-leading companies contributing to the IEEE 1914.3 release, including AT&T, China Mobile, Comcores, CommScope, FiberHome, Intel, Microchip Technology, MTI, SM Optics, and a global mobile fronthaul radio equipment manufacturer (at publication).

"Anritsu is proud to be part of a small but dedicated team of individuals helping shape future mobile fronthaul networks,” said Shunichi Sugita (General Manager of Service Infrastructure Solutions Division); “Being an active contributor to standards allows Anritsu product development to consistently delivery on market-leading technologies and customer demands, and it’s a core part of the Anritsu ‘envision: ensure’ brand statement.”

Anritsu’s Network Master Pro (MT1000A) released in May 2018 with support for IEEE 1914.3 and eCPRI™ maintains its market lead as a field portable solution for the transport market. With 10G, 25G and 100G Ethernet capabilities including PTP (IEEE 1588™), the MT1000A is the ideal tool for supporting the 4G to 5G switch. Full technical details are available at the Network Master Pro product page.
