Síminn and Comarch Communications extend partnership to modernize customer service delivery
Síminn, Iceland´s oldest telecommunications provider, has signed a new agreement with Comarch Communications to modernize how it launches and delivers digital services across mobile, broadband, and TV. The agreement extends a partnership that began in 2013 and includes an upgrade to Comarch Communications’ Enterprise BSS platform, along with two additional modules that will support Síminn’s ongoing IT modernization.
New platform to help Síminn launch services faster and simplify customer orders
This upgrade supports Síminn’s goal of launching new services faster, reducing manual work in order handling, and building a more flexible IT setup. A key part of the project is bringing Síminn’s broad product portfolio into one central Product Catalog. This will make it easier to manage offers across services and connect them to a more automated Customer Order Management process.
With the new system, Síminn will be able to define commercial and technical products more flexibly. It will also give the company clearer control over how customer orders are received, checked, and delivered across digital channels.
Modern IT setup designed for simpler product management
The upgraded system separates product setup from billing and pricing. This gives Síminn more room to design, update, and launch services without unnecessary complexity. A new configuration and quoting capability will also help create offers faster and more consistently, while continuing to work with existing CRM systems. More of the order process will be automated, so digital customer requests can move from first interaction to delivery with less manual work.
The solution uses a modular architecture and Open APIs, making it easier to connect with Síminn’s other internal and external systems. It also supports alignment with the TM Forum ODA framework, a widely used model for modern telecom IT architecture. This gives Síminn a more flexible and scalable foundation that can evolve step by step as business and customer needs change.
"Comarch Communications has been an important technology partner for Síminn since 2013. As we simplify our product catalog and automate more of the customer journey, continuity and trust matter. This agreement gives us a stable path forward and helps us launch and manage services more easily across mobile, broadband, and Premium TV products," said Logi Karlsson, CTO at Ásar, owner of Síminn.
Stronger system integration to support Síminn’s future services
The BSS stack is supported by Comarch Communications’ Application Integration Framework, which manages external integrations. It will help connect the new setup with important parts of Síminn’s wider IT environment, including ERP and finance systems, field service repositories, local identity providers, and other business applications.
"The long-standing cooperation with Síminn gave us a comprehensive understanding of their unique needs and allowed us to focus on complex architectural goals immediately. Our objective is to deliver a highly structured transformation to an ODA-aligned environment that prioritizes modularity and simplifies Síminn’s IT ecosystem by consolidating diverse catalogs and streamlining resource management. We are proud to continue our role as a technology partner for Iceland’s leading CSP and ensure that Síminn gains a future-proof foundation capable of supporting their operations comprehensively,” said Łukasz Kanczurski, VP Business Growth & Strategy – Western & Southern Europe at Comarch Communications.
The project is planned to go live in 2027. In addition to the software, Comarch Communications will provide managed services, extended SLAs for the new modules, and expert support for connecting digital channels. The modernization is expected to give Síminn a more consistent foundation for future service development, allowing its IT landscape to evolve gradually rather than through large, disruptive replacements.
