Intel and Micron today unveiled 3D XPoint™ technology, the first new memory category in more than 25 years. 3D XPoint technology makes new innovations possible in applications that benefit from fast access to large sets of data, such as machine learning, real-time tracking of diseases and immersive 8K gaming. The technology uses unique material compounds and an innovation cross point architecture to deliver speeds up to 1000 times faster than NAND, and it is 10 times denser than conventional memory.
