ECI enhances LightINSIGHT for greater insight into network utilization, performance and health

PETAH TIKVA, Israel - July 25, 2018: ECI®, a global provider of ELASTIC Network® solutions for service providers, critical infrastructures and data center operators, today announced it has included several key advancements to its LightINSIGHT™ network analytics application to provide greater intelligence into overall network utilization, performance and health. The updates expand LightINSIGHT’s ability to optimize capital expenditure (CAPEX) and reduce operational expenditure (OPEX), while improving customer satisfaction by ensuring service performance and availability.

As an analytics application, LightINSIGHT plays a central role in fulfilling ECI’s commitment to providing complete service and network lifecycle support, something that will become increasingly essential to assuring the 5G services and network slices of tomorrow. Service providers can already leverage the intelligence gained from LightINSIGHT to optimize current resources, better facilitate network expansion planning and new service development, while speeding up service activation and quickly anticipating and correcting network failures. LightINSIGHT also allows for more accurate monitoring of network performance against customer service level agreements (SLA), increasing service reliability to avoid churn and penalties.

LightINSIGHT uses a scalable architecture to fit any network size and provides coverage of both ECI and third - party network equipment. It is composed of three modules that can be purchased individually or together:

Inventory & Utilization: Provides a 360-degree view of both physical and logical network resources, by analyzing and identifying network utilization, overutilized and underutilized resources, trends and misconfigurations, to make the most efficient use of CAPEX.

Performance: Monitors service and network performance including throughput, latency, utilization and availability, to compare against SLAs. Provides smart KPIs to identify and flag problem areas, and deal with these performance issues early, before customers complain.

Health: Delivers a clear visualization of network health and alarms through a single dashboard, identifying ongoing conditional issues and analyzing alarm history and trends to better identify source issues. This enables quick action before traffic and services are affected.

“The complexity of most networks makes it challenging to gather the right intelligence to better utilize and manage resources. When issues arise, manually digging through databases or reviewing an endless stream of alerts can be prohibitively difficult and make network audits, for example, nearly impossible,” said Gali Malkiel, Head of Software Line of Business at ECI. “

LightINSIGHT is one of our most popular apps with dozens of installations worldwide, attesting to both the need and suitability of our solution. With our continued improvements to LightINSIGHT, customers now have an even better tool to easily and quickly gather actionable information to help them make the most informed decisions about their network. Plus, it allows for deeper insights to better plan for future network expansion and services, particularly as operators forge their path to 5G.”

LightINSIGHT is an open and flexible application that covers both packet and optical transport technologies. Data is automatically gathered via various sources and analytics are derived using a business intelligence platform to extract the reports. Through its customizable dashboards and simple report generation capabilities , LightINSIGHT offers both an intuitive visual snapshot of the network and the ability to explore individual issues or equipment at a much more granular level. Trend analysis provides more granular tracking of deployment, performance, RMAs and more.
