Wind River joins China Mobile OPEN-AUTO Program for telecommunication cloud advancement

ALAMEDA, CA – Dec. 14, 2018Wind River®, a leader in delivering IoT software to critical infrastructure, today announced that it has joined the China Mobile Communications Group’s OPEN-AUTO Program. As a member, Wind River will cooperate with China Mobile on the development of an open framework, enrichment tools, testing and verification and implementation, in order to support telecommunication clouds.

China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile operator, has been actively advancing its SDN/NFV automatic integrated testing system in recent years to transform its network architecture, operation and services towards next generation network infrastructure. The OPEN-AUTO program, built upon the automatic integrated testing platform AUTO developed by the China Mobile Research Institute, brings together program members’ expertise in hardware, platforms, services, and instruments and tools to build out an OPEN-AUTO ecosystem. This ecosystem will help facilitate capabilities for intelligent planning, batch automatic configuration, automatic deployment of one-key trigger and automatic testing of the components of different layers within the Telecom Integrated Cloud (TIC) to complete the integration and testing of the virtual network elements automatically. This effort can not only improve integration efficiency, but also support a closed-loop from integrated verification in the labs to deployment by provincial branches across the country to achieve rapid deployment of an end-to-end telecommunication cloud.

As one of the initial six cloud platform vendors of the program, Wind River provided significant contributions to the design and verification of the foundational platform. During this process, teams completed testing and validation of Wind River Titanium Cloud virtualization software with the OPEN-AUTO automatic integrated testing platform.
