Oracle extends fast Cloud interoperability to Asia with Microsoft Azure through new Tokyo site

Via Oracle Press Room

May 8, 2020

Oracle continues to forge the expansion of our cloud interoperability collaboration with Microsoft Azure into Asia with a new cloud interconnect location in Tokyo. This new Tokyo interconnection will enable businesses to share data across applications running in Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud. This facility joins interconnect locations already operating in Amsterdam, London, Ashburn, Virginia, and Toronto.

In this effort, Oracle is meeting surging enterprise demand for multi-cloud capabilities worldwide, including in Japan and the broader APAC region. The goal of the overall collaboration, announced in June 2019, is to make it faster and easier for enterprises to move their workloads from internal data centers to the cloud that best suits each application.

For example, a large business may want to run some applications on Azure, which connect to their trusted database solutions, including Oracle Autonomous Database or Exadata, on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Or it may want to modernize existing applications by tapping into cloud native services like Azure IOT service or Oracle Digital Assistant.

Many businesses are opting to use multiple clouds and many also use both Microsoft and Oracle technology. The interconnect makes sharing data across Azure and Oracle cloud faster and easier for these customers, as does our joint customer support.

The interconnect fosters cloud migration for mission-critical workloads via a dedicated high-speed connection, and a federated single-sign on for Oracle Cloud and Azure resources, and a collaborative technical support model.

And, we’re not done yet: Oracle plans to introduce additional Interconnect locations based on customer demand, so stay tuned.
