Some years ago the global IT industry, facing constant technological changes and challenges as well as brutal consolidation, went through a series far-reaching changes as it was forced to transform itself. Now, and perhaps somewhat belatedly, transformation is also transmuting telecoms networks into something new. It is not an easy process as many operators, telcos and service providers are finding out - and it is vitally important that they get it right first time because they won't get a second chance.
