UK telecoms sector must seize the day with diversity and training initiatives, say ITP chiefs

The UK telecoms sector is playing an increasingly critical role in the development of Digital Britain and is set for a period of growth and development, but the sector needs to do more in terms of skills training, creating opportunities for apprentices and implementing diversity initiatives if it is to fully capitalize on the opportunities that accelerating fibre broadband and 5G rollouts are delivering, according to Crissi Williams, CEO at the Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP), and Lord Ed Vaizey, the ITP’s Patron and member of the House of Lords Communications and Digital Select Committee.
