Proximus increases speed of its fibre products and launches the 10 Gbit/s technology throughout Belgium

Following the launch in five major cities at the beginning of this year, the Multigig technology is now also available in all areas where there is fibre coverage. The fastest internet in Belgium for uploads, downloads and latency, is being integrated into new Flex Fiber packs for residential customers from 10 July. Existing fibre customers will also get higher speeds automatically. With this, Proximus once again confirms its leading position in the field of internet services provided to consumers in Belgium.

The rollout of the best Gigabit network in Belgium is one of the main strategic priorities for Proximus. Proximus’ ambition is to provide all families with a Gigabit connection by 2032, and fibre is an important enabler in this regard.

At the end of March, Proximus had reached a national coverage rate of 23%, with nearly 1.4 million homes and businesses connected. The fibre rollout is currently under way in 106 towns and cities across the country. In the Brussels region, more than 50% of the population is already covered.

Flex Fiber packs, tailored to the customer

With the rollout of the Multigig technology in all fibre zones in Belgium and the launch of the new Flex Fiber packs in the residential market, Proximus is once again making its mark on the internet market.

From 10 July, residential customers can choose, depending on their needs, between three superior internet speeds from the packs below:

  • Mega Fiber, included in the standard pack: ideal for home workers and streamers with symmetrical speeds of up to 500 Mbps download/500 Mbps upload, 5 times faster than the median internet speed in Belgium.
  • Giga Fiber, for €15 extra per month: ideal for families with speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps download/500 Mbps upload, 25 times faster than the median internet speed in Belgium. Customers can enjoy better Wi-Fi in more rooms, thanks to the Wi-Fi boosters included, and unlimited calls in Belgium over the landline.
  • Ultra Fiber, for €42 extra per month compared with the standard pack: the ultimate internet experience with speeds of up to 8.5 Gbps download /1 Gbps upload, 90 times faster than the median internet speed in Belgium. Customers can also enjoy better Wi-Fi in more rooms, thanks to the Wi-Fi boosters included, and unlimited calls in Belgium over the landline.

More speed for existing fibre customers

Existing Flex Fiber customers will keep their current pack and enjoy an upgrade of their surfing speed to 500/500 Mbps for the standard experience or to 1 Gbps/500 Mbps for the Gigabit experience, depending on the makeup of their current pack. Proximus will inform these existing fibre customers individually. There are currently no changes for fibre customers whose internet connection in not part of a pack.

"The rollout of the Gigabit network in Belgium is one of the most important pillars of our bold2025 strategy. After the launch in 5 cities earlier this year, I am proud to announce that the Multigig technology will be available in all fiber zones of Belgium from 10 July. Proximus is integrating the ultra-fast technology into the residential offer with 3 renewed Flex Fiber packs, guaranteeing an unparalleled surfing experience from 2.5 Gbps to 8.5 Gbps via 10 Gbps technology. With the fastest internet via fibre, Proximus sets itself apart from its competitors. And it does this in terms of speed as well as stability and symmetrical speeds - a first in Belgium," said Jim Casteele, Consumer Market Lead.
