Tokyo, Japan – NTT DATA, a $30+ billion trusted global innovator of business and technology services, and Ufi Space Co., Ltd. (UfiSpace), a leading provider of end-to-end open networking solutions, have agreed to build a development environment for a disaggregated white box solution, a high-speed, large-capacity, and low-power consumption solutions that run various network operating systems on open hardware. Further, NTT DATA and UfiSpace will collaborate on the development and global expansion of this solution. Through this collaboration, NTT DATA and UfiSpace will contribute to the realization of the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) concept advocated by NTT.
Background
Traditional communications network buildouts are vertically integrated and siloed with proprietary equipment and software. However, in recent years, communication service providers have been stepping up efforts to build open and flexible communication networks. Global interest is growing for solutions that separate hardware and software and run various network operating systems on open hardware (white box equipment).
In order to gain a foothold in the global expansion of IOWN, NTT Group has been developing its own network operating system, Beluganos*1, and has been providing IOWN network solutions*2 that combine the network operating system, white box equipment, and optical transceivers. In addition, NTT DATA has participated in activities of various telecom industry associations aimed at realizing network disaggregation, and has capabilities in areas such as integration, automation, and new service creation.
UfiSpace provides white box equipment globally to major communication service providers implementing network disaggregation solutions, helping them reduce CAPEX and OPEX while creating new revenue opportunities through high quality services.
The Disaggregated White Box Solution aims to provide innovative, cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions by combining NTT DATA's advanced technological capabilities with UfiSpace's expertise in telecommunications networks. It also aims to address the growing demand for autonomous networks powered by AI and generative AI.

NTT DATA and UfiSpace will provide each other with the cutting-edge technology required for the development and expansion of Disaggregated White Box Solutions and will work together to explore the design, development, and optimization of the solutions.
