Maxis strengthens its nationwide network infrastructure with Nokia’s optical transport technology
Maxis recently deployed Nokia's optical transport technology, significantly enhancing its nationwide and cross-border network infrastructure to meet the surging demand for AI and enterprise connectivity.
As a trusted digital infrastructure and connectivity partner for Malaysian businesses, Maxis Business has connected over 50 data centres across the country. This deployment further enhances its ability to serve this segment, expanding its enterprise portfolio and ensuring hyperscalers and customers receive consistent, high-quality performance.
Through this deployment, Maxis leverages Nokia’s 1830 PSS and PSE-6 optical technology to deliver up to 1.2 Tbps capacity per channel. By expanding the transmission spectrum using C+L band technology, it doubles the carrying capacity of the existing fibre, while Nokia’s WaveSuite automation ensures high network resilience.
For enterprise customers, this translates into a fast, reliable and secure network that provides robust support for mission-critical workloads. It also enables over-the-top (OTT) players and hyperscalers to deliver high-capacity 4K media streaming, high-density AI compute, Data Centre Interconnect, and massive data backups without lag.
“Our collaboration with Nokia strengthens the optical foundation of our network, enabling us to meet growing traffic demands while providing a best-in-class connectivity experience for our global and domestic customers looking for resilient, secure and high-capacity, low latency networks for managing their AI workloads and connecting their Malaysian data centres with the rest of the world. It also allows us to support and advance the government’s digital transformation agenda. We look forward to continuing to work with Nokia on future initiatives,” - Prateek Pashine, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Maxis.
“Nokia’s next-generation optical networking technology enables service providers like Maxis to build scalable transport networks for the rapid growth of AI, cloud and enterprise traffic. Together, we are creating a future-ready optical foundation that connects the intelligence emerging across AI, cloud and enterprise ecosystems, while supporting robust connectivity and emerging digital services,” - Ming Kin Ngiam, Head of Southeast Asia of Nokia.
By modernising its optical transport network, Maxis is actively supporting Malaysia’s digital ambition of becoming a regional digital hub. This initiative delivers the unparalleled capacity to power the next generation of digital services.
