It’s already been touted as “the next big thing” in cellular: Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), promises the ability to dynamically reflect and relay RF signals, actively seeking out receivers such as mobile devices, whilst extending coverage into hard-to-reach areas. But what are the possible use cases and is the technology ready for commercial development?
