ZTE takes the lead to complete China Mobile’s small-granularity test in Slicing Packet Network

Release Date:2020-11-11 Author:ZTE Click:1

11 November 2020, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation has completed the test of small-granularity hard slicing in its Slicing Packet Network (SPN), led by China Mobile Research Institute. According to the test results, the new small-granularity technology in SPN is able to deliver as small as 10Mbps hard slicing on the SPN-based 5G-granularity hard slicing. Meanwhile, it supports flexible Nx10Mbps slice granularity, and provides deterministic latency of service-level hard slicing granularity and security assurance with physical circuit isolation. Therefore, the SPN small-granularity technology can offer the best technical guarantee and flexible bandwidth to the latency-sensitive services in vertical industries and high-value enterprise private lines. In this test, ZTE has completed the small-granularity pipeline function test on the SPN device, provided flexible Nx10M granularity bandwidth, demonstrating that the SPN small-granularity technology can offer end-to-end hard slicing pipelines, support high security isolation and deterministic latency based on TDM features, and satisfy the performance requirements of the small-granularity slicing services. By means of inband OAM, it can also allow bit error monitoring and latency measurement to implement precise monitoring of the quality of the smallgranularity pipelines. China Mobile has completed the research and standard of SPN 10M small-granularity technology. It innovated the unique frame structure of fg-BU (fine-grained Basic Unit), which defines the TDM timeslot for 10M granularity on the Ethernet physical layer and supports timeslot cross-connect on intermediate nodes, thereby forming end-to-end small-granularity rigid physically isolated pipelines. It is compatible with 5G large-granularity on SPN Path, and is able to provide slicing on 10GE standard Ethernet interface.

ZTE and China Mobile have been cooperating in innovations of the SPN small-granularity technology, and jointly participated in the research of the enterprise standards "Slicing Packet Network (SPN) Fine-grained Slicing Technology Requirements" organized by China Mobile Research Institute.

Moreover, ZTE has taken the lead in developing products in compliance with China Mobile’s standards, promoting the development of China Mobile's SPN technology and the application of its standards in vertical industries.

Moving forward, ZTE and China Mobile will cooperate further in the pilot and commercial deployment of SPN small-granularity to build advanced and mature SPN networks, so as to provide vertical industry customers and private line service users with efficient SPN solutions.
