ZTE completes world’s first end-to-end OTA performance test for mmWave base stations

Via ZTE Press Center

Sep 29, 2020

Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has completed the world's first millimeter wave (mmWave) over-the-air (OTA) performance test. It is an end-to-end test based on multi-probe darkroom test system pioneered by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and China Mobile Research Institute.

ZTE's mmWave base station system has not only fully verified the test specifications of the mmWave OTA system, but also achieved excellent end-to-end performance at different complex wireless channels, marking a major step forward in the commercial use of 5G mmWave systems.

Jointly conducted by CAICT and ZTE, the 26GHz mmWave base station test has verified the basic performance items in NSA networks. The test items at different NLOS (non-line-of-sight)/LOS (line-of-sight) channel models include access performance , user peak rate, fixed bit rate test, AMC (Adaptive Modulation and Coding) test, high-speed performance test, and beam management test.

The test has adopted ZTE's full range of end-to-end solutions, including 5G mmWave high-performance base station, 5G core network equipment and brand-new mmWave test terminals. The experimental data shows that ZTE’s mmWave system with 200MHz bandwidth and commercial network configuration, can provide a single user with a peak rate of up to 1.15Gbps. In the deteriorating high-speed NLOS scenarios of 120Km/h and 160Km/h, ZTE’s mmWave system can still provide a peak rate of 822Mbps and 723Mbps respectively, demonstrating the superior end-to-end performance of ZTE’s mmWave system.

By virtue of its rich experience in the performance verification of wireless systems in mainstream frequency bands, ZTE can provide operators with mature, end-to-end 5G products and solutions. Moving forward, the company will continuously support and cooperate with the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group to prepare for the commercial use of mmWave systems and help operators achieve 5G commercial success.

ZTE is a provider of advanced telecommunications systems, mobile devices and enterprise technology solutions to consumers, operators, companies and public sector customers. The company has been committed to providing customers with integrated end-to-end innovations to deliver excellence and value as the telecommunications and information technology sectors converge. Listed in the stock exchanges of Hong Kong and Shenzhen (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), ZTE sells its products and services in more than 160 countries.
