Tokyo, Japan - February 16, 2016 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced that it is expanding its partnership with SpiderCloud Wireless, a leader in scalable small cell systems, to offer UMTS/LTE, dual-carrier LTE, LTE-U (1) and LTE-LAA (2) small cells to enterprises of all sizes, from small retail stores to very large public venues.

NEC's small cells simultaneously support UMTS and LTE, or dual-carrier LTE with carrier aggregation, enabling reuse of the existing Power over Ethernet (PoE+) infrastructure. NEC will also offer a new LTE-U and LTE-LAA solution to mobile operators that want to seamlessly utilize unlicensed spectrum to offer enhanced mobile broadband service, particularly in large and high-density public venues.

As a pioneer and leader in the small cells industry with a proven delivery track record, NEC have led extensive commercial deployments of these small cells in medium-to-large enterprises including financial institutions, hospitals, and government offices rapidly bringing enhanced network quality and capacity. Under the new partnership, NEC will also offer new software that enables customers to use the same small cells to provide indoor coverage in enterprises as small as 500m2 to enterprises as large as 150,000m2.

"The strategic partnership with SpiderCloud has enabled NEC to create a uniquely differentiated solution in the market," said Nozomu Watanabe, General Manager, Mobile Radio Access Network Division, NEC Corporation. "Enabling our customers to offer converged services at the edge through a high quality access network is our key approach and differentiator to help our customers monetize their small cells deployments."

"Since 2012, NEC and SpiderCloud have worked together to commercialize the industry's first small cell system for medium and large enterprises," said Michael Gallagher, SpiderCloud's CEO. "We look forward to the next stage of this journey where we jointly offer UMTS, LTE and LTE-LAA solutions for enterprises of all sizes."

Last year at Mobile World Congress, NEC showcased converged mobile solutions that combine enterprise small cells, NEC Cloud Broker Suite and the NEC UNIVERGE 3C unified communications platform. This year NEC will exhibit its industry leading security solution NeoFace® Watch coupled with small cells at the NEC exhibit in Hall 3, stand #3N10, Fira Gran Via, Barcelona from 22-25 February 2016.

With several customer trials underway, NEC brings together its wide ranging product line and system integration capability to provide a rich variety of converged mobile platforms for the market.
