This past year platforms have become an increasingly important marker for M2M ambitions, says Gilli Coston, formerly head of M2M at O2 (Telefonica) in the UK and now a consultant at CGI (formerly Logica). Her projections for the next year: open source software increasingly key; industrial, healthcare, auto and insurance are all big M2M markets and will continue to grow and the 'app' will be big in consumer connected devices.
