SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 29, 2015) - Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD)

  • Expands OEM relationship with Huawei to include Brocade Gen 5 Fibre Channel directors and fixed-port switches to complement embedded switch offerings for blade servers

  • Brocade SAN fabrics create a highly reliable foundations between servers and Huawei storage arrays

Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD) today announced continued momentum for Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs) within China following an expansion of the company's relationship with Huawei, one of the world's largest telecommunications and networking equipment companies.

Brocade® Gen 5 Fibre Channel director and fixed-port switches are now being sold globally by Huawei and its network of channel partners in addition to the embedded Fibre Channel switches integrated with Huawei x86-based blade servers. Brocade switches are integrated and qualified with Huawei OceanStor enterprise servers and storage arrays for mission-critical workloads.

Brocade SAN switches deliver the industry's highest levels of throughput to maximize application performance by eliminating network bottlenecks. Brocade SAN switches also include Brocade Fabric Vision™ technology which can maximize uptime and dramatically simplifies SAN deployment and management while providing unprecedented levels of visibility and insight into the storage network.

"China's robust economy has created a tremendous growth market for networked Fibre Channel storage," said Jack Rondoni, vice president, storage networking, Brocade. "We are excited about our expanded relationship with Huawei to help our mutual customers leverage our industry leading SAN hardware and software technologies to maximize application performance and availability, especially for their flash-enabled storage systems."

Huawei OceanStor storage systems are setting a new benchmark for high-end storage to provide advanced data services for mission-critical workloads. Solutions featuring OceanStor storage and Brocade SAN fabrics are being sold by Huawei into various industry sectors--such as government, finance, carriers, energy, transportation and manufacturing--to meet the rigorous needs across a wide variety of applications such as large-scale database OLTP/OLAP and cloud computing.

"The majority of our customers choose Fibre Channel to support their mission-critical applications which made adding Brocade directors and switches a logical next step for our long-term relationship," said Dengxing, vice president of Storage Product Line at Huawei. "As our customers continue to require flash-enabled storage for their environments, the Gen 5 Brocade SAN hardware is critical to help ensure there are no bottlenecks in the infrastructure in order to derive the full value of our leading-edge architectures."
