In the context of Altice Labs’ anniversary, a working session called Ideation was held to discuss and share ideas on "The impacts of Telco, IT and content convergence and digital transformation in society in 2020".

Vasco Lagarto, President of the Executive Committee of the Information, Communication and Electronic Technologies (TICE), was invited to introduce the theme and share his vision with the participants.

"For the last 45 years, we have seen a great economic growth, but uneven growth," he said. There are challenges related to health, poverty, economy, security, society, environment and sustainability, where technology and digitization can play an important role in overcoming some of the problems, he admits a nd also leaves a message: " We live challenging times, but we should be happy to be involved in building a better society and a better world ".

The participants were divided into 5 groups and, together, made their predictions for the next three years, on the topics: consumer, business models in the digital offer, companies, impact on society (ethics, politics, privacy and safety) and the environment and sustainability. In the rooms, everyone's participation was visible and the yellow post-it multiplied on the walls with the key ideas.

After the brainstorming session, each of the groups made a pitch with their perspectives. On the consumption side, João Ferreira, director of PT’s TV Product, admitted that there will be more and more information available and less and less time. And, therefore, the consumer wants to have a facilitated life. He wants personalized experiences, taylor made, and wants to be the center of the universe. As for the business models, so that they are disruptive, we must first know the consumer well, says Tiago Silva Lopes, from the Digital Direction. And, once again, guarantee solutions and experiences that are appropriate to each client, involving the client with the brand. This is a great challenge for companies as they need to be agile to react quickly to customers needs.

And what will companies be like in 2020? They will have to adapt to consumers’ needs. Companies that ignore this won’t survive, says Abel Aguiar, Product and Pre-Sales Management. Innovation, skills and access to knowledge will continue to be fundamental to adapt to the demands of the market, consumers and new business models. Resilience and safety "by design" are the group’s key messages that discussed the impact on society. José Alegria, Director of Cybersecurity and Privacy at PT, stresses that privacy and reputation will be critical for companies that want to survive in 2020.

In the environment and sustainability area, it’s fundamental to adopt a smart and integrated approach to living in society (smart living) and change the way we build and look at things. One of the examples is to think about the life cycle of a product as a whole, from conception to its end of life, using the minimum resources and that they can be reusable.

Alexandre Fonseca summarized the presentations to leave a fundamental message:

" What as been seen in these last 20 minutes and in the working afternoon clearly represents Altice Labs. This is our DNA. ” This joint work between the ecosystem - employees, customers, startups, universities, suppliers - and pick up on all these "smart people" and "smart thoughts" to create value. " What as been proven is that we can’t do this without you ", the CTO points out. It’s not enough to have ideas. You have to take these ideas and turn them into knowledge, products and value. The participants of the Ideation work day ended with a networking dinner with various institutional guests and members of PT's Executive Committee. Paulo Neves, Chairman of PT's Board of Directors and CEO, left a word of recognition to the participants, emphasizing that this 360 degree collaboration " is the way to make innovation ".
