Telcos have outsourced their thinking to equipment vendors for the last 15 years and now they're scrambling to win back control by embracing the software way of doing things, says Martin. But there's still one thing missing: the optimum way to introduce complex new technology is not to wait until everything's perfect, but to define a minimum viable product, get it out, learn what you need to improve and then iterate, he says.
