Rahim Tafazolli, Founder & Director of 5G Innovation Centre University of Surrey
Rahim Tafazolli says that were there to be no comms technology innovation beyond the consumer market, there would be no need for 5G. After all. 4G is a very good system that provides excellent mobile broadband and the capacity issues that currently are affecting the technology because of its popularity and success can be solved within 4G itself. However, 5G is a special generation. It is a technology that surpasses the consumer market and is so much more than just mobile broadband. It opens up a myriad of new business opportunities and, quite simple, is a generator of new money for operators. That capability is what makes 5G the special generation.
