Executive Interview

As part of TelecomTV’s “Spotlight on 5G” series of programmes, we take a detailed look at the 5G RAN and the needs of network operators. To open our coverage on 5G RAN, we speak with Neil McRae, Chief Architect of BT, and ask him for his thoughts and opinions on the evolution of the radio access network. Are 3GPP-specified products delivering the goods? What role will Open RAN play? Have we yet to see the real potential of small cells? What role do neutral host networks play in RAN strategies? And what can be done to lower the power consumption of installed RAN equipment?
