There are tens if not hundreds of open source projects that companies involved in the telecom market are participating on, but what drives the creation of all these projects and how has the open source community changed and evolved over the past decade? Whilst some might still debate the merits of a business model that funds resources to work on software that’s free for anyone to use, this misses the commercial reality. Jim St Leger has been a key figure in the open source world for many years and shares his advice to CSPs who are looking at open source today and details some of the important open source projects that fit with CSPs growing requirements for edge network deployments.
