Martin Taylor is not surprised that NFV is taking-off much more rapidly than many in the industry expected. That's because network operators, in the driving seat and calling the shots, are able to take advantage of some tried and tested technologies that are quite capable of bridging the gap between physical and vitualised functions as total transformation occurs.
