Just a feeling I have. Take, for instance, the latest offering from Withings - a weighing scale and "wellness" specialist - designed to track your baby's weight.
The company claims it has produced the world’s first Internet-connected baby and toddler scale, designed to "give parents a simple-to-use and extremely accurate way to monitor, understand and share their child’s growth using the power of the internet."
Withings points out that obesity affects 17 per cent of US kids now, so any responsible parents should be monitoring and tracking the weight of their children from an early age - even from infancy.
The Smart Kid Scale has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so scale data can be uploaded directly to Withings "Baby Companion" application. This means parents can track the weight of their kids and rest easy, safe in the knowledge that any nasty upward (or downward) trend will be spotted on the app. Also, says the blurb, parents can easily communicate the progress of their child’s weight with their doctor, pediatrician, family and friends.
Perhaps. Maybe I'm being too sniffy and the Smart Kid Scale is what the world is waiting for.
