Joe Cumello addresses the importance of LSO, the open networking phenomenon being driven by service providers, and the paradigm shift from 100G/200G to 400G optical networking. He highlights that customers are asking not just for greater capacity, greater density, lower power, and lower cost per bit but they are also looking to gather greater intelligence from their optical networks to help them make automation choices. Capacity plus automation and intelligence will be the currency in the network going forward.
