New Innovation Center to leverage ZTE Smart City 2.0 and other metropolitan ICT capabilities to promote the development of industry ecosystem for Smart City deployments

16 September 2015, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, is pleased to announce a partnership with TM Forum and the City of Yinchuan to set up a Smart City Innovation Center to drive the development of technologies and platforms for smarter public services for urban residents.

The new innovation center will leverage ZTE'€™s industry-leading metropolitan ICT technologies, including Smart City 2.0, a suite of solutions enabling the provisioning and delivery of transportation, healthcare, education and other connected public services. The announcement of the new innovation center was made at the TM Forum Smart City InFocus 2015 conference in Yinchuan, hosted by ZTE, TM Forum and the City of Yinchuan.

The conference in Yinchuan attracted more than 200 chief information officers, city planners, technology providers and NGO representatives from 41 countries. Keynote speakers including Jane Chen, Senior Vice President of ZTE, Peter Sany, CEO of TM Forum, Guo Baichun, Deputy Mayor of Yinchuan, Young-hoon Choi, CIO of the City of Seoul, Cathelijne Hermans, Coordinator of Amsterdam Smart City, Dr. Aisha Bin Bishr, leader of SmartDubai Taskforce and Dr. See-Kiong Ng, Programme Director at the Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore shared their insights on Smart City development with conference delegates.

"€œTechnology innovations are key to resolving major challenges in urbanization such as environmental degradation and traffic congestion,"€ Deputy Mayor Guo said. "€œIn the City of Yinchuan, we have deployed Smart City technologies to deliver intelligent and people-centric public services in 10 sectors including transportation, environmental conservation and administrative services, realizing a city of "€œOne Network, One Cloud and One Map"€ that serves as a model for other urban centers and conurbations globally."

The City of Yinchuan deployed ZTE's Smart 2.0 solution to provision public services more efficiently and productively, enabling the management of information and data across different government departments. ZTE’s Smart 2.0 solution aligns with the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model to ensure improved funding allocation for Smart City projects. Residents and businesses in Yinchuan can now access public services with greater speeds and efficiencies, and the time needed for applications for public services have been reduced by as much as 78%.

"The new innovation center in Yinchuan will provide the impetus for the development of an industry ecosystem for innovations in Smart City technologies, and help promote international standardization,"€ said ZTE's Ms. Chen. €œ"As a leader in Smart City technologies, ZTE is committed to collaborate with other stakeholders and partners to accelerate the rollout of more intelligent and people-centric public services globally."

ZTE'€™s ZSmart CC solution, deployed in Yinchuan, was the winner of the TMF President's Award at the 2015 TM Forum Global Summit in Nice in June. ZSmart CC was designed and developed by ZTEsoft, a subsidiary of ZTE.
