Oracle and Wind River Bring the Enterprise to the Edge By Amanda Lowe

amanda

We’ve all seen the predictions on the opportunities that IoT presents to companies in the industrial sector. Regardless of which of the wide-ranging analyst figures you follow, its clear to see that the possibilities are endless. Turning those possibilities into reality starts with bridging the gap between IT and OT.

The value of IoT lies in connecting the edge to the enterprise with an IoT solution bridging IT and OT, giving stakeholders data and device visibility and increasing operational efficiency. Maximum value comes from device data being collected in enterprise applications to enable generation of new insights.

Oracle and Wind River are collaborating to deliver an integrated IoT solution that extends the enterprise to the edge. By integrating Oracle IoT Cloud Services with Wind River Helix Device Cloud to automate the contextualization of sensor data at the edge with enterprise applications, industrial companies can spend less time managing device connectivity, manageability, and security.

The integrated solution enables the quick connection of device data to back-end ERP, CRM, and asset management, and other domain specific enterprise applications. Customers are provided with a simple configuration and deployment experience to power-on a device and have it securely direct data to their enterprise applications.

The Device Cloud service extends the Oracle IoT Cloud Service, providing centralized device lifecycle management services for securely deploying, monitoring, servicing, managing, updating, and decommissioning devices in a network.

Emeka Nwafor, Senior Director, Product Management and Ecosystem for Wind River and Harish Gaur, Senior Director, Product Management for IoT at Oracle delivered a web seminar today discussing how extending the enterprise to the edge enables better decision making and real time responsiveness to changing market conditions.

Catch the on demand version of the web seminar and learn how to turn the IoT possibilities into IoT realities by leveraging pre-built “Edge to Enterprise” IoT applications to drive predictive maintenance and reduce field service costs.
