As a representative of a major CSP Jéhanne Savi, of Orange France, knows exactly what service providers want from Open Source. That is innovation, standardisation and interoperability. That is what Open Source communities provide and why Orange France is a founder member. She says is up to manufacturers and vendors to meet service provider requirements and if they either can't or won't then the ISPs will go elsewhere and procure solutions that other, perhaps lesser-known, or even completely unknown, vendors that are willing to manufacture exactly what the SPs want. Ericsson and Red Hat understand that and say that their respective businesses are now driven throughout by customers and their needs and both companies have a complete, end-to-end commitment to collaborative communities and Open Source.
