Sustainability is at the heart of OVHcloud since its creation. After having been ISO 50001 certified, the Group is going one step further in its environmental commitments by participating to the Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centers for 6 of its data centers:

• Strasbourg (France)
• Roubaix (France)
• Limburg an der Lahn (Germany)
• Erith (United Kingdom)
• Warsaw (Poland)

This Code of Conduct is a European Commission initiative created in response to the increasing energy consumption in data centres and the need to reduce the related environmental, economic and energy supply security impacts. The aim is to reduce energy consumption in the data centers in a cost-effective manner without hampering their mission critical function. It is a synthetic referential including 100+ best practices for which CSPs commit to comply with, updated and reported yearly.

Recognised as important by many stakeholders, such as the French interministerial "Green Tech" mission that published the “General eco-design reference framework for digital services” where organisations are encouraged to select a participating hosting company, the Code of Conduct is an important milestone for OVHcloud as the company is dedicated to responsible environmental practices.

As part of its commitments, OVHcloud communicates on its overall environmental impact, not only in terms of greenhouse gases emissions, but also energy, water, waste and transportation management. OVHcloud also shares its carbon footprint since 2017 and will, in the coming weeks, implement a carbon calculator accessible directly from its platform to give customers an understanding of their actual cloud carbon IT footprint, demonstrating once more that sustainability is part of the Group’s DNA.
