FutureWei Technologies explains how edge computing differs from cloud computing and why it is of strategic importance to Huawei. For the vision of edge computing to take shape and mature into the deployment stage, Huawei believes openness in its key technological building blocks is crucial for the economics and long term viability. The newly launched LF Edge open source community, which includes edge projects such as Akraino, is expected to play an important role in achieving these goals towards openness.
