SUSE named as launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud

Luxembourg - January 15, 2026 - With the launch of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) European Sovereign Cloud, SUSE, a global leader in enterprise open source solutions will provide its enterprise Linux products to customers. The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is a new, independent cloud for Europe entirely located within the European Union (EU), for customers looking for sovereign solutions in Europe.

IDC predicts that by 2028, due to geopolitical uncertainties, 60% of organizations with digital sovereignty requirements will migrate sensitive workloads to new cloud environments to reduce risk and increase autonomy.1 SUSE is meeting this shift head-on, empowering customers to meet stringent operational autonomy and data residency requirements without compromising on the robust capabilities of the public cloud.

“In an increasingly unpredictable world, our customers rank digital sovereignty as one of their main priorities. For us, sovereignty means maintaining control and resilience through freedom of choice,” said Jason Vaughn, SUSE Global Cloud. “We are proud to be a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud and to be able to continue to offer organizations across Europe with resilient infrastructure, with SUSE at the core.”

Offering and Availability

SUSE will offer its Linux products on the AWS Marketplace including SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and SLES for SAP.  These will be available via annual subscription and pay-as-you-go offerings. Bring your own subscriptions will become available at a later date. This builds on SUSE’s existing digital sovereignty offerings including SUSE Sovereign Premium Support. AWS and SUSE recently expanded their Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) to integrate SUSE’s open source solutions with AWS generative AI services, Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q. Following the launch of SUSE Rancher for AWS and the delivery of Supplementary Packages for Amazon Linux, this recent development showcases moving from joint innovation in AI and containers to providing the foundational, sovereign infrastructure required by Europe’s most regulated industries.
