Two persons, a TV

MagentaTV: new name, new design, and even more exclusive content.

Under the motto "Simply one for all", EntertainTV became MagentaTV on October 24, 2018. And the name of Deutsche Telekom's TV product isn't the only thing that's new: users now enjoy simpler controls and an even wider range of content. Starting now, MagentaTV offers exclusive access to thousands of additional titles from ARD and ZDF at no extra charge for MagentaTV customers.

For existing customers, an automatic software update turns EntertainTV into MagentaTV in the new design. Familiar features like time shift, restart, and replay will be joined by many new features, including the personalized home page containing both live TV and video on-demand content. The new "Keep watching" feature lets users keep track of all movies, series, and TV shows that they've started watching, but haven't finished yet. The new search function also lets customers find relevant content across all channels and providers quickly and easily.

"Deutsche Telekom's TV business is one of the most important pillars of our growth strategy," says Michael Hagspihl, Head of Consumers at Deutsche Telekom. "Over the years, we have continually rolled out innovations that are transforming the market and redefining conventional television. The combination of the best platform, strong partnerships, and exclusive content will remain our recipe for future success."

The best TV from Germany: ARD Plus and ZDF select

A new, exclusive partnership with ARD and ZDF gives MagentaTV customers exclusive access to content that was previously only available for a limited time in the ARD and ZDF media libraries.

ARD Plus, ZDF select, ARD Plus Kids, and ZDFtivi select now give MagentaTV customers access to more than 8,000 titles, including many popular shows like "Ku’damm 56", "Polizeiruf 110", and "Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter". They can be played without any time restrictions.

MagentaTV also provides access to the largest "Tatort" archive anywhere. Around 200 episodes of this classic crime series are already available at launch time; 200 more will be added incrementally. The ARD Plus Kids and ZDFtivi select media libraries offer special highlights for the youngest customers: more than 2,500 high-quality, advertising-free titles. All content will be refreshed and expanded continually.

One-of-a-kind variety: the new "Megathek" on MagentaTV

The "Megathek" is now a central element of MagentaTV. It combines exclusive content from ARD Plus and ZDF select, the content of the series portfolio, exclusive Deutsche Telekom series, and the new in-house and co-productions such as "Deutsch-Les-Landes". With more than 10,000 titles, Deutsche Telekom has created an unparalleled variety of content and genres for its customers. The "Megathek" is available at all times, free of charge for MagentaTV customers.

MagentaTV now for all German households

Deutsche Telekom's new TV offering is now available under all internet providers for the first time, for 7.95 euros per month. It contains some 75 TV channels, including 45 in HD (high definition), and does not require any long-term commitment. It includes the new "Megathek" and access to the video-on-demand offerings from Videoload, Telekom Sport, MagentaMusik, and Deutsche Telekom's pay TV offerings. MagentaTV is initially available via app for iOS and Android, as well as on Chromecast and via web client. More access options will follow soon.

"Customers won't find an innovative, user-friendly TV platform like this anywhere else in Germany," says Wolfgang Elsäßer, Senior Vice President Business Unit TV at Deutsche Telekom. "But MagentaTV also offers much more. With our exclusive content and partnerships, we have created a one-of-a-kind product, the likes of which have never been seen before in the German media landscape. And this offering is now available to all households."

To accompany the launch, MagentaTV is starting a new advertising campaign under the motto "Simply one for all", featuring Christian Ulmen and Fahri Yardim. What's more, Deutsche Telekom will premiere its first in-house production, "Deutsch-Les-Landes" with Christoph Maria Herbst, on November 1.
