Cloud Native Telco

The CSP ascent to cloud native

Nov 14, 2019

Cloud native and its desirability is a recurring theme in telecoms, say our expert interviewees. It’s all about moving to an agile environment and upgrading  continuously. Perhaps the best thing about the move to cloud native is that, in the past, telco network solutions haven’t been able to scale.
Along with cloud native come containers and microservices. Containers enable flexibility so that  telcos can  introduce services as they need them - just as they need them. And Cloud Native will enable CSPs to deliver services in real time (in the real sense).
Automation and cloud native are both key if you are going to be doing network slicing in 5G, and the fact that cloud native is the way forward is evidenced by the fact that Openstack adherents are now supporting both VMs (virtual machines) and Kubernetes (cloud native microservices and containers).
