SAP Invests More Than 200 Million Euros into Digital Campus in Berlin

** BERLIN ** — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) focuses on Berlin as an innovative location and therefore announced today that it will expand its presence in the capital.

In the next few years, the biggest business applications provider worldwide will invest more than €200 million in a campus near Berlin central station. There will be room for up to 1,200 employees to work at the more than 30,000 square meters in “Quartier Heidestrasse,” the so-called Europacity. The move into the digital campus is currently planned for end of 2022.

“SAP loves Berlin,” said SAP Chief Technology Officer and Berliner by choice, Juergen Mueller. “The capital and its tech ecosystem cannot be overlooked by us and our clients. This applies to the innovations of the future as well as to Berlin’s location as an important job market. Berlin, like no other capital, has a strong appeal beyond Europe.”

With the new location SAP strengthens technology areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain. It also highlights the significance of the capital region as an important place for dialogue with customers, politicians, startups and universities. Today, SAP is represented in the capital area through multiple office locations in Berlin-Mitte and Schoenefeld, SAP Data Space and the SAP Innovation Center in Potsdam.

Michael Mueller, governing mayor of Berlin, said: “SAP has played a key role in shaping Berlin’s transformation since reunification and its development into the digital capital in recent years, and has grown continuously here. The decision to develop a joint campus at Quartier Heidestrasse is fantastic news for its employees in Berlin and the city as a whole. It is also a strong signal for Berlin as a city of science and research. I am very happy about the new center of digital economy in the heart of the city and wish SAP all the best for the project.”

The Quartier Heidestrasse is a project of Taurecon Real Estate Consulting GmbH, which has signed a long-term lease agreement with SAP for the space. The building will be state of the art in technological innovation, offering visitors and employees smart building technology.

Thomas Bergander, managing director of Quartier Heidestrasse GmbH, on the conclusion of the contract said: “We are very happy that SAP will move into our office building QH Track in the Quartier Heidestrasse. This decision means not only that a digital hub will be created that fits our concept of a smart and digital Quartier perfectly, but it also means that the employees of SAP will have a great impact on the lively campus at Quartier Heidestrasse.”
