The Critical Communications Association (TCCA) is a Market Representation Partner within 3GPP. In September 2017 the association formed its Broadband Industry Group (TCCA BIG) to accelerate the adoption of broadband critical communications based on latest 3GPP LTE standards. Prior to Release 13, Mission Critical services benefited from the use of multicast bearers in LTE with the standardisation of eMBMS. Since then, there has been focus on mission critical data and video and enhancement to push to talk capabilities. The 3GPP established a working group (SA6) to coordinate its standards work with the TCCA, as the evolution to 5G gathers momentum and critical communications becomes an important 5G early use case.
