BELLEVUE, Wash. – March 6, 2018 – 5G Americas, the industry trade association and voice of 5G and LTE for the Americas, congratulates the U.S. House of Representatives for passing important spectrum legislation that will galvanize the deployment of 5G wireless services. Named for recently deceased Energy & Commerce staff director Ray Baum, RAY BAUM’S Act ensures a pipeline of spectrum for commercial use, provides needed flexibility for spectrum auction deposits so 5G spectrum can be auctioned this year, and streamlines the siting of wireless facilities on federal property, establishing best practices for state and local jurisdictions to follow. 5G Americas urges the Senate to quickly pass this spectrum legislation so the U.S. can lead globally in the deployment of 5G.

“5G technology has the opportunity to positively affect the connectivity needs of all Americans. This legislation will provide a foundational framework for moving forward on spectrum identification, spectrum auctions as well as the investment and deployment of 5G technology wireless services.” said Chris Pearson, President, 5G Americas.

“5G Americas takes this opportunity to thank the House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden, Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John Thune, and Ranking Member Bill Nelson, for their tireless, dedicated work over several years to ensure that the Mobile Now and Auction Deposits bills became a reality to help the next generation wireless connectivity needs of U.S. citizens”. stated Pearson.
