Thorsten Robrecht, Vice President, Advanced Mobile Networks Solutions, Mobile Networks, Nokia and Dan Rodriguez Vice President, Data Center Group GM, Communications Infrastructure Division, Intel Corporation

Thorsten Robrecht and Dan Rodriguez debate the differences between 5G standards and technologies and those generations that came earlier and the likely direction of network evolution required to encompass new business opportunities for all the players on the field. 5G was very much front-and-centre at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, featuring prominently as a prime enabler of the Internet of Things and its importance in vertical applications. However, to make 5G a reality and for it achieve its full potential the network itself will have to change and to help it do so Intel and Nokia are working together, within the wider industry, to ensure that the benefits of the ecosystem can be leveraged by - and so create new business opportunities - for all within the ecosystem.
