Francis Haysom, Principal Analyst, Appledore Research

Three years ago, Appledore Research predicted that Open RAN sector developments wouldn’t unseat the incumbent mobile infrastructure vendors and that the market for open, disaggregated RAN systems would ultimately be dominated by traditional vendors, such as Ericsson and Nokia, along with pre-integrated solutions from a few other major companies, leaving only a small slice of the market to mix-and-match multivendor solutions.
