Carrier wi-fi may not yet have a clear definition, but there is certainly a need for it. For a telco, it's all about retaining revenue and creating a better experience for users. The experience should be effortless for consumers, which leads to more usage, and hence extra revenue. But the wi-fi networks must be robust and capable of scaling to support large volumes of users.
