The business case for carrier wi-fi has been built on the cost issue, but the reality for many operators is that data revenues are falling whilst they are starting to introduce wi-fi. Telcos are therefore working to create additional revenue streams, rather than rely on cost savings as the justification for carrier wi-fi. With up to 85 per cent of roaming data traffic being routed over wi-fi, mobile service providers are keen to reclaim this value.
