Employees are fleeing the office - only 25 per cent now do five days per week

Siemens Enterprise Communications has been doing some research and was surprised to find that only a quarter of the attendees (26 per cent) at UK Expo were spending five days a week in their respective offices.

Five years ago the same question had 57 per cent spending the entire week in the office: a major change. Amongst the mobile working enthusiasts the number of people spending less than one day a week in the office had doubled from 7 per cent five years ago to 15 per cent today. The two numbers taken together seem to suggest a major surge in mobile working.

As you'd expect, "many businesses still don’t have the correct infrastructure and processes in place to support employees," nags the press release.

"Respondents stated that the biggest challenge when it comes to accessing the right people in the organisation is not being able to reach them when they are in a different location (37 per cent). Knowing the availability and location of staff was also cited as a challenge."
